1. Leaf Garland: Gather fallen leaves from your backyard and string them together for a beautiful and biodegradable garland or wreath. If you are worried about bugs/spiders/larva you can always freeze the leaves. Garlands and wreaths are not just for your door, you can put them in the garden too or the mailbox.


2. Pinecone Centerpieces: Collect pinecones during your nature walks and arrange them in a rustic bowl or vase for an earthy touch. You can also cut them shortways and paint them to look like flowers or sprinkle them with glitter (this is my 4-year old favorite, don't worry you can get eco glitter these days!).




3. Pumpkin Planters: Instead of using plastic pots, hollow out small pumpkins and use them as planters for your favorite fall blooms. Then at the end of the season just plant the whole thing in the garden or throw it in the compost.



4. Recycled Glass Lanterns: Repurpose glass jars by placing candles or fairy lights inside and placing them or hanging them around your home for a magical glow. You can use any glass objects you have or find at the thrift store for this craft, I find that vases look very nice with fairy lights inside them.



5. Apple Candle Holders: Carve out the core of apples and place tea lights inside for a charming and eco-friendly candle holder. If you have an issue with ants you can dip the apple in wax to keep them away.

It’s byline is “reclaiming domesticity from a consumer culture” and the book argues that homemaking is a radical and political act in a society that values consumerism, materialism, and individualism. In the book Radical homemakers are people from all walks of life who reject the mainstream culture and instead focus on creating sustainable and fulfilling lives centred around family, community, and the environment (this sounds like the three ethics of permaculture!
